From Sep. 28th to Sep. 29th, 2024, the 35th National Academic Conference of the Chinese Antituberculosis Association and the 4th Chinese Antituberculosis Science and Technology Award Ceremony were held in Huzhou, Zhejiang. With the theme "Innovation-Driven・Precise Prevention and Treatment," the conference attracted over 2,000 experts and scholars from around the world. Conference Focus: New Pathways for Tuberculosis Control from a Global Perspective
The conference featured in-depth exchanges on the diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis, molecular diagnostic technologies, and short-course treatment regimens. Dennis Falzon, a tuberculosis prevention and treatment expert from the World Health Organization, pointed out that China's breakthroughs in the prevention and control of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) provide a model for the world, especially in the application of new drugs and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Zhongnuo Caring: Deepening Efforts in the Field of Drug Resistance, Contributing Practical Solutions
We set up an independent exhibition area to highlight the clinical value of two drugs: SAITESHUN® Bedaquiline Tablets and DASILIKANG® Cycloserine Capsules. Bedaquiline, as the world's first diarylquinoline anti-tuberculosis drug, precisely kills bacteria by inhibiting the ATP synthase of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, shortening the treatment course for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis to 6-9 months, which is a core drug in short-course regimens. Cycloserine tablet is used for the treatment of active pulmonary tuberculosis and extrapulmonary tuberculosis (including renal tuberculosis) caused by bacteria sensitive to the drug and poorly responsive to first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs (such as streptomycin, isoniazid, rifampicin, and ethambutol). Due to its low resistance rate, lack of cross-resistance with other drugs, strong tissue penetration, and good clinical efficacy, it is included as a core anti-tuberculosis drug in the treatment regimens for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis.
